Hi, I'm Zach.
Pharmacist by profession. Photographer by passion.
Landscape and travel photographer based in North Carolina.
My photography journey started similar to many hobbies, during lockdown for the COVID-19 pandemic. My parents gifted me a camera that belonged to my brother, one that he had used to document his adventures in Utah. I quickly found it to the be the perfect hobby: an artistic outlet, motivation for getting outside, and a way to reset my mind.
Thanks for following along in my journey and supporting what I do!

My Gear
Sony a7riii
My only camera.
This body may be a bit dated by professional standards, but the sensor is still one of the best out there. If you don't need the latest AI autofocus and 10,000 frames per second speeds, this one will do just fine.

Sony 35mm f1.4 GM
My least-utilized lens, but one I still love.
This one is my go-to portrait lens (combined with the 70-200mm), but I also use it for astrophotography with a star tracker. It's great for dreamy, shallow DOF shots and low light and I love using it for casual photo walks. This is the only prime lens I own, and I don't plan on using any others.

Sony 16-35mm f2.8 GM
An essential landscape photography lens.
The 16-35mm is my favorite lens for shooting waterfalls, astrophotography, and wide vistas. I love zooming out and creating depth with distinct foregound/midgound/background elements. There's a newer version out there with an aperture ring, but I find that unnecessary.

Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 G2
My workhorse lens.
My most-used lens and the one attached to by a7riii on a daily basis. This lens is light, fast, and sharp. It's taken a beating over the years and still works like a charm. It doesn't have many bells and whistles, but it doesn't need them. Just a great all-around lens and much less expensive than the alternatives.

Sony 70-200mm f2.8 GMII
My all-time favorite lens.
This incredible piece of gear comes with a hefty price tag, but it's worth every penny. Insanely sharp, fast, and actually pretty light for a telephoto. It's great at everything: portraits, landscape, events, travel, and even wildlife when used with the 2x teleconverter.
